Original Artwork Prints
These
paintings have been created with a computer, but they are
not computer generated. A computer generates nothing without
input from a person, in this case the artist, using a tablet
or mouse and a software program intended for this purpose.
Let us explain the process for creating a digital work of
art, so that you will know that the piece you are buying
is as much an "original" as any other two-dimensional
work of art, such as an oil painting, watercolor,or lithograph. To
view a small demonstration of how we paint, you may click
the play button on the small flash demonstrations below.
When
we begin a new piece, we start with a vision of what we
want to paint. Just as in any other medium, doing rough
sketches or laying our work out directly on the canvas.
These may be done traditionally in a sketchbook using a
pencil, but most often, is done directly on the computer,
but instead of drawing on paper with a pencil, we use a
stylus pen to draw on a graphire tablet. The drawing appears
on the computer screen as we draw, just as it would if we
were working on paper.
Once
we have a sketch, we proceed to paint, layering the paint
as if we were glazing layers of paint in watercolor or oil.
The time involved in creating the artwork is no less than
it would be with any other medium. When the work is completed
it is saved as a digital file, it is then ready to be made
into a form that can be printed, and framed for display.
When
we produce our digital art, we may print a small edition.
If printing a small edition, once the edition is complete,
the digital file is destroyed so that no more copies can
be made. We will print only one copy, if the work is commissioned.
The digital file is then destroyed and no further copies
will be made, unless the customer has given written approval
to reproduce the work .That together with the Certificate
of Authenticity, is your assurance that you are getting
an original work of art.
Most
fine art Limited Print editions are limited to 100 prints
or less, and come with a Certificate of Authenticity from
the printer that lists the print title, how many total prints
are in the edition, which number the particular print you
have is (expressed as a fraction: 1/100, meaning your print
is number ( ) of a total of one hundred), and how many artist's
proofs there are which is most generally no more than 10%
of the total edition.
